Torus Stonecraft's roots were established in 1994 when Greig Sivills embarked on a stonemasonry apprenticeship at the esteemed St Mary's Cathedral Workshop in Edinburgh. His training emphasized the traditional methods of stonemasonry, utilizing hand tools exclusively. Stone replacement, template making, and the application of lime mortars were integral aspects of his training at St Mary's, skills that he continues to employ today.

Greig's exceptional talent was recognized when he was selected to represent Edinburgh in national stone cutting championships for two consecutive years. He was also awarded the apprentice of the year accolade at Telford College. Upon completing his apprenticeship, Greig was invited to remain at St Mary's as Assistant Foreman, where he dedicated himself to training new apprentices and sharing his hard-earned expertise.

In 2003, Greig transitioned into the field of stone conservation, embarking on a journey that took him across Scotland to work on a diverse range of notable projects, including Rosslyn Chapel, Edinburgh Castle, St Giles Cathedral, and Stirling Cemetery. Over the next decade, Greig honed his skills in architectural carving and conservation, developing a meticulous approach to working with delicate and historically significant stonework.

After 20 years of experience in the trade, Greig decided to establish his own company, Torus Stonecraft, in 2014. Since its inception, the company has been involved in numerous projects, with a highlight being the relocation of the William Chambers statue in Chambers Street, Edinburgh.

Torus Stonecraft remains committed to delivering the highest quality craftsmanship and attention to detail in every project undertaken, while providing a friendly and professional service to its valued clients.
