Intially we asked Terry to install drainage and other groundworks in our back garden which was subject to severe flooding.The guys laboured hard to remove tons of clay before drainage channels and drains could be laid. Next was a complete garden redesign. We had drawn up a plan ourselves but Terry consulted us daily, giving advice & making suggestions or improvements in order to accommodate our wishes. Terry is a meticulous worker who pays great attention to detail. No request was too much trouble, although I suspect we may have been over-ambitious in our design. We may have thought that we had asked for the moon but that is exactly what we got!!! Since completion our new garden has been truly admired by everyone who has seen it. Needless to say, we are absolutely delighted!!! He will be coming back to work next year again.We would thoroughly recommend Terry and his whole team as hardworking, reliable and trustworthy; in short , a terrific team! I've never seen graft like it! The quality and finish of the work is outstanding, with adaptations to the original plans on the way, for further improvement. My garden is about 60ft long and they have tirelessly laid patio the whole way, but breaking it up with new steps and partitions of a different colour. They have dug out the whole garden, which was a tip, laid hardcore, sand and concrete in preparation. They have built me a wild flower garden with railway sleepers, around the only 2 trees I was keeping and rebuilt my broken fence! The attention to detail by a team that really cares was fantastic and nothing appeared too much trouble.Thank you all so much, for everything and see you soon for more works!Vicky xxx

A J McPherson Ltd. carried out the groundworks for our self-build project, a detached domestic property in the Craiglockhart area of Edinburgh, with integral garage. The scope of the work was to excavate and level the site and remove arisings, install drainage, build retaining wall, lay foundations, and ground slabs and provide site access, ready for the erection of the external timber SIPS superstructure.

A J McPherson Ltd worked closely with us to organize and deliver this work, within a tight timescale (February to April 2017) to meet the delivery date for the SIPS panels. Alistair McPherson led the work himself and I was particularly impressed by his level of competence and experience and by the way he organised his team and communicated with us on a daily basis before and during the project. Alistair confidently addressed any problems as they arose, for example working with the structural engineer to ensure proper stabilisation of a soft spot in the ground at the rear of the property.

The team worked safely, carefully and efficiently and within our agreed budget with a clear focus on the end goal. I was particularly pleased that the finished line and levels were within tolerance (particularly given the wet conditions during construction) and there were no issues at the interface with the SIPS panels. Once the building was erected, A J McPherson Ltd sourced and installed some galvanized steel beams for the bridge up to the front door, laid the footpath, built an additional retaining wall, and generally helped to leave a tidy site ready for landscaping. Overall, we were very happy with the service provided by Alistair and his team and I would gladly recommend A J McPherson Ltd for future work of this kind

Alistair and his team were a pleasure to work with during our Self Build project. The site presented significant challenges with a steep slope from roadside to riverbank. Alistair’s work included sheet piling to retain the site at both roadside and riverbank plus a significant retaining wall at Ground floor level to support the property half way down the site.

Groundworks to include foundations, blockwork, drainage, rainwater attenuation tank, sewage pumping station, block & beam support for the drive and ground floor for the house. The work was completed with professionalism, liaising with structural Engineer, Architect and SIPS contractor to resolve issues in a practical manner, making good use of Alistair’s experience. We were informed at all times with program consequences of the challenges on site and are entirely satisfied with the job done and the handover to subsequent contractors.
