  • Screed8
    5
    8 Langham Drive, Rayleigh, SS6 9TA, GB

    Welcome to Screed8

Screed8 are a specialised Liquid Screeds Company covering all your screed needs including installing underfloor heating. We are based in Rayleigh between Southend, Basildon and Chelmsford but are happy to cover Essex, London, Kent, Suffolk, Hertfordshire and all the surrounding areas of the UK with quality guaranteed.

    Liquid Flow Screeds

Liquid flow screed is the industry standard in floor screeds. This type of flooring is made from inert fillers like sand added with a binding agent such as cement but normally calcium sulphate. It is also known as self levelling screed or a calcium sulphate screed. Simple in its preparation this new form of flowing screed is suitable for light domestic use in under 24-48 hours after installation. It only need to be 40mm thick and 50mm over underfloor heating. It is pumped in at such a rate that 100 meters can be layed in approximately 40 minutes, cutting down on labour costs.

    Good to go!

The screed is then pumped directly onto the floor and heating pipes. Once fully pumped the surface is levelled with a dapple bar. On average, a drying time of 4-6 hours should be left before any foot traffic is allowed onto the floor screed. We recommend underfloor heating shouldn’t be switched on for at least 14 days after application. After this time, it should be turned on to a maximum of 15°C, and then gradually turn it up by no more than 5°C each day to reach desired temperature. This is to avoid thermal shock to your screed.

    The final phase

Depending on your choice of the final floor covering, we may need to add a finishing layer prior to the application of the floor covering. This is normally if PVC or linoleum is your chosen covering.

Finally, 7 to 10 days later, the screed is sanded to remove any laitance that is left on the surface. This is in preparation to having your floor tiled or whatever option you choose to go for.

How do we lay your screed?

Before applying your screed, we ensure the surface is dry and free from contamination and other impurities. All dust and debris is vacuumed from the surface. Surfaces that contain small holes or other irregularities and differences in height are pre-levelled before installation of your screed. A damp proof membrane (DPM) is then laid on top of the concrete base. All heating pipes (If chosen) are firmly clipped down and stress relief joints are placed around all walls, pillars and other uprights.

    Using the Finest Materials

All of our materials are quality produces from major suppliers. We are approved installers of Weber, SPS Envirowall, Gypsol and Cemfloor

    Underfloor heating

Underfloor heating systems can be a convenient central heating solution for many commercial properties and homeowners. The cost to operate radiant floor heating is relatively low compared to other heating methods. The water that is heated by your system is stored in a pipe under the floor so it does not have to be constantly reheated, unlike other heating systems. Underfloor heating is also more eco friendly than using radiators and uses less energy, meaning they cost much less in the long run! With Screed8 installing your system properly, you could save about 25 percent of the energy you would use with a radiator, and up to 40 percent when running from a heat pump.
